Irina Kulikova is one of the most respected classical guitarists of her generation. Her playing has taken her to leading concert halls and festivals across Europe, Asia and the Americas, including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Tokyo’s Musashino Hall and the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. Her career began at the age of eight, followed by major competition success and an international recording career.
Her reputation has been shaped not only by her concert performances, but also by the strong response of major figures in the classical guitar world. GRAMMY-winning producer Norbert Kraft described her as “a deeply romantic and truly captivating player.” Soundboard Magazine wrote of “some of the most sheerly beautiful playing I have ever heard.” Violinist Luz Leskowitz said: “Wherever she performs, she plays her way into the hearts of her listeners.”
Kulikova has released seven solo albums, including recordings for Naxos, with repertoire connected to Bach, Sor, Barrios, Tárrega and contemporary composers. Her album It’s About the Touch was recorded with Norbert Kraft and includes the world premiere of Three Night Ballades by Konstantin Vassiliev, dedicated to Irina Kulikova and Feliks Volozhanin.
This Glasgow concert offers a rare chance to hear an internationally recognised classical guitarist in the intimate setting of Blythswood Hall.
